Christmas 2022

Base 1 Tour

Base 1 - Thank you so much to Ian for giving us a very informative tour around his farm on this beautiful sunny day!

Fire Station

A super morning learning about fire safety and seeing our local fire station.Thank you to firefighter Jack for showing us around!

We had a little visitor in Base 1 this morning

'Henny' was hatched in our classroom four years ago, she was very happy to return and felt very comfortable in our home corner! We look forward to reading and writing about 'The Little Red Hen' this week.

Ryedale Folk Museum

Base 2 had a fun, if rather wet, trip to the Ryedale Folk Museum yesterday. We went to look at the replica Iron Age Roundhouse. Although the children enjoyed exploring the Roundhouse they decided they preferred to live in their rather more modern homes with heating and lighting. We also looked at the Blacksmiths Forge and thought about how we still use iron today. Finally we looked around the other houses through the ages and at the model village in preparation for our next literacy topic, The Borrowers.

Tour de Britain Bike Race

Today we travelled the short distance to Grosmont and watched the Tour de Britain Bike Race. The children were very excited to see the police motorbikes and support cars, but even more excited to see the actual cyclists flying by!

Village Show 2022

Goodbye Mrs T

World Book Day 2022

Some of our Year 6 pupils also wrote their own stories and dressed up as their favourite character. Great costumes and brilliant books everyone!

A huge well done to Base 2 and Mrs Bordoli for winning the Choral Speaking class at the Eskdale Festival of the Arts 2022. They performed The Adventures of Isabel by Ogden Nash and Awareness About our Environment by Sylvia Stults. The adjudicator remarked on their, ‘clear speaking, energy, facial expressions, excellent clarity and control with a firm finish’.

School Swimming Lessons at Whitby Pool

Our Key Stage 2 pupils are Mini Medics. The session was both educational and practical and instilled the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.

The first snow of 2022 and we even managed to make some micro snowmen!
