Christmas at Goathland School.

Our Open Afternoon was a great success. We hope all those who came along to join in the activities enjoyed their time with us. The children made imaginative woodland ‘boggarts’ (mischievous woodland spirits) out of clay and natural materials which they collected from around the site. Our Year 6 children also planted birch saplings for the Queens Jubilee Green Canopy Initiative.

Open Afternoon 2021

The Angel who nearly missed it all

Horrible Histories Live

We went to York Opera House to watch Horrible Histories, Barmy Britain. We even manged to catch one the stars of the show outside!

Danby Moors Centre

Whilst the sun was shining, we took our Key Stage 2 pupils to Danby Moors Centre for a day of river dipping and exploring. Mrs Bordoli discovered she had a hole in her welly too! The children were particularly pleased to find a Cadissfly larva part way through building its case (protective covering).

Whitby Cross Country League

#teamgoathland

Our Key Stage 2 pupils took part in the first inter schools competition last week at Whitby 6th Form College. All the children ran brilliantly with 2 children coming second in their age group races. Our Year 6 girls are currently top of their league table with 2 more races to go!

Goathland Village Show

The rain held off and we had a fabulous day at Goathland Village Show today. Thank you to everyone who helped on our stall and well done to all our children who participated in the junior Plough Stots sword dancing, art, sunflower and sports competitions, we are proud of you all.

School's Out 2021!

Well done to our trophy winners and good luck to our Year 6 leavers, we will miss you!

Sports Day 2021 - What a wonderful sunny afternoon we all had. Team spirit was in abundance with cheering and encouragement for both teams. Thomason pipped Mallyan for the win by 2 points. Thank you to The Hub for hosting us and to Scripps Garage who generously provided well deserved ice creams for our children.

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils canoed down the river Esk to Whitby harbour. Whizzing down the weir was definately a highlight of the day! Well done everyone.

Day 1- Rock Climbing and Scrambling at Wainstone Craggs, just beyond Great Broughton.

The Year 5 and 6 children had a fantastic day. The pictures speak for themselves. â›°

Goathland Scarecrow Festival

Mrs Bordoli hopes you can see the incredible effort that Mrs Watson and the children have put in to making our scarecrows. The children are thrilled with the final results and the staff are impressed with what has been achieved. We are looking forward to seeing more scarecrows around the village over half term.

Our Key Stage 1 and 2 winners proudly received their prizes yesterday. Their entries will now be entered into a Diocesan wide competition where winners will be presented with prizes by the Archbishop of York. All the winners' work will be exhibited around the Diocese.

Darnholm Farm

On April 22nd 2021 we had a wonderful trip to Darnholm Farm to see and feed some of the new-born lambs. Thank you so much to Ian Thompson and his family for inviting the children to share this special time.

During Lockdown 2021

Our wellbeing dog Ted, had plenty of entertainment and love today from our Key Workers children. He took part in PE with Joe Wicks, phonics with Mrs Knight and kept the children smiling all day. #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek
