Sirius Minerals

Sirius Minerals gave a very informative presentation on the mine and career opportunities to Base 2. We already seem to have budding engineers and geologists amongst us.  The children also held a piece of rock older than the dinosaurs which was found 1,500 meters below sea level and took 2 years of digging to reach!

Tennis, District finals at Lady Lumleys

Our Yr 4's qualified for the District Finals. They competed at Pickering Leisure Centre in ‘quick singles’. They sadly missed qualifying for the area finals by 2 points. They were all brilliant and should be very proud of their sporting achievement.

Sports Day - 27th June 2019 - 1:30pm @ The Hub

Our Sports Day was looking very uncertain after the downpours on Monday and Tuesday but what a fabulous Sports Day 2019 was! The sun came out (a bit too much), races were run, teams triumphed and trophies were won. Thank you for providing a fantastic picnic and for joining in with our family game of rounders, which was a great success.

Bikeability 2019

Bikeability – All of Base 2 thoroughly enjoyed their time with the Bikeability team and learnt some valuable life saving skills in the process. All 5 assessors were amazed at how confident, polite, hardworking and knowledgeable our children were. Everyone successfully passed the course and received their badges and certificates. Well done

Yorkshire Arboretum School Trip

Our summer trip was to the Yorkshire Arboretum near York on the 24th June. The children had a wonderful time exploring the grounds in search of mini beasts and in the afternoon den building.

We welcomed the RNLI into school for a #WATERSAFETY talk.

Our Spring Visitors

We welcomed 2 pet lambs into school called Tiny and Small. Such a special morning filled with fun and laughter.

Our pupils strength, agility and speed were tested. Well done team!

Coffee Morning in aid of Guide Dogs for the Blind

We held a coffee morning in Base 1 for all the parents and family members. Base 1 made yummy shortbread biscuits to sell on the day. We raised £28.90 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Our Hatchery

Base 1 welcomed 10 eggs into their classroom in February. By day 3 the eggs had started to hatch. All 10 hen eggs successfully hatched within 24 hours. For 2 weeks the children wrote about them, drew them, stroked them and fed them. They were such a wonderful addition to the school and they're now living at a nearby farm as free range chickens so we hope to eat their eggs very soon!

Lady Lumley's School Cross Country - District Qualifiers

Goathland competed against other schools and 3 students qualified for the District Finals at Dalby Forest in March. Well done them!
